A Happy and Healthy New Year
After the build up and self indulgence of the festive season, it’s not surprising that many of us feel sluggish, lacking in energy and low in mood at this time.
Your skin can also tell its own seasonal story. What does your reveal?
Is your skin clear, radiant and glowing or is it blemished, dull and sallow which might indicate that harmful toxins have been ingested and not detoxed properly from the body.
Water. Drinking enough water is something that many of us fail to do but it is vital for eliminating wastes and toxins through our kidneys. Why not make one of your resolutions to drink 6-8 glasses of water daily?
Exercise. Another way to get rid of excess toxins is by sweating through exercise which leads to increasing your blood circulation and raising your heart rate. If the thought of exercise is depressing – make it fun. It doesn’t have to be carried out within the discipline of a gym. It could be that Zumba class you’ve wanted to join or the Wii you were given for Christmas that provide the means to exert yourself.
Dry brushing. This procedure is great to wake you up in the morning before showering. It is also highly effective in eliminating toxins and wastes – see the procedure for dry skin brushing in the May newsletter from last year.
Skin care. Dry skin is a real problem in the cold weather months although this should be no surprise when you consider the cold winds, central heating and low humidity. Moisturising your face, body, hands and feet with intensive products is going to the response your dry skin needs.
